St. Albans Country Day School is a highly academic, non-religious private school serving children in the pre-kindergarten through eighth grades. We accept applications for our wait list year round and encourage all who are interested in finding out more information about our programs, to participate in one of our monthly school tours and/or visit during our Open House.
Qualified applicants are students who are excited and engaged in the learning process, are working at or above their current grade level, have good citizenship and behavior, and have shown their ability to perform well academically. Additionally, children applying to either the pre-kindergarten or kindergarten programs must be four years of age (pre-k) or five years of age (kindergarten) as of September 1.
As openings occur, students are invited to visit their prospective class for a day as well as completing the basic battery of the Stanford 10 Achievement test (grades 1-8). Parents are asked for copies of past report cards and standardized tests, too. While visiting, students fully participate in all classes, they complete the assigned work, and teachers administer skill based screenings. After the visitation is complete, teachers give feedback, including observations about their interactions with others, work habits, and willingness to participate in classes. The Stanford 10 Achievement test is administered on a separate day and the testing time varies by grade level.
If you have further questions, please contact admissions director Ms. Mindy Sakoi either by phoning the school office or by email.

“As I reflect on my path from St. Albans to a career in medicine, I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to forge a skill set even as an elementary school student that continues to serve me today.”
“The quality, dedication and enthusiasm of the teachers at St Albans were the hallmark of the school. St. Albans not only taught one how to learn, but also challenged me to excel — and this skill set established at St. Albans not only helped carry me through my physics major at Harvard, but also later in my business career.”
“The ease with which I completed my education is a direct result of St. Albans’ excellent academic program and the teachers and staff who truly care about the futures of their students.”
