“Where can we see how many Parent Participation Points we have earned?”

Parent Participation Points are updated in your FACTS Family Portal near the beginning of each month. Please note that points are only updated online once a month.

“I completed a volunteer activity from the online sign-up page last Friday. The point isn’t showing up in my online portal.”

If you don’t see your points listed yet, it is most likely because the points have not been updated to include your service date. For example, if you completed a volunteer activity On September 5th, those points will not be entered until the beginning of October.

“How can I earn Parent Points if I work full time?”

Attending our August and Spring Work Days are a great way to earn points. Work Day participation earns 2 points per hour, and if both parents attend a single Work Day, you can earn up to 16 points in just four hours—nearly half of your annual requirement. Work Days are held on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to noon, making them a convenient option for many working families.

Another way to earn points is by purchasing gift cards through Raise Right (link). A wide variety of popular retailers, grocery stores, and restaurants are available. Many offer instant digital access, or you can choose to have physical cards mailed to you. You’ll earn 1 point for every $200 spent, making it an easy way to support the school while purchasing items you already use in your daily life. The annual fall fundraiser also offers parents a chance to earn points through sales instead of volunteer hours.

“What is the difference between Parent Participation Points and the Class Credit Assignment? Do I have to do both?"

Parent Participation Points are flexible and cumulative. Families must earn 35 points throughout the year, and they can do so in a variety of ways—through fundraising purchases, volunteering, or attending workdays. Each family can choose the combination that works best for them. Any unearned points result in a $100 per-point fee.

Class Credit Assignments, on the other hand, are fixed and mandatory responsibilities tied to your child’s grade level. Each family is required to complete one specific assignment per child, and it must be fulfilled by a parent. Unlike participation points, this requirement cannot be substituted or made up in another way, and failure to complete it results in a flat fee of $500 per assignment.

Families do need to complete Parent Participation Points and The Class Credit Assignment if they would like to avoid incurring any additional charges.
